Text Prize for Young Adult and Children’s Writing

Text Publishing is calling for entries for the annual Text Prize for Young Adult and Children’s Writing, valued at $10,000.
Both published and unpublished writers of all ages are eligible to enter the prize with works of fiction or non-fiction. Submissions must be received between 3 May and 4 June 2010.
Judged by a panel of editors from Text Publishing, the winner will receive a publishing contract and a $10,000 advance against royalties.
Initiated in 2008, the Text Prize aims to discover wonderful new books for young adults and children by Australian and New Zealand writers.
The inaugural winner, Richard Newsome’s The Billionaire’s Curse, was published last year to much acclaim and has since been sold in six international territories. In 2009 Leanne Hall’s This Is Shyness won the prize and will be published in August this year.
The 2010 winner will be announced at the Australian Booksellers Association Conference in Brisbane on 12 July.
Submissions must be received with an entry form and payment of $25. Entry forms, along with terms and conditions, are available at
